Brazed Plate Heat Exchangers
APV standard ‘P’ type plate material is AISI 316 stainless steel and copper brazed together. Brazed exchangers can operate at a maximum temperature of 437°F/225°C at 450 psig/31 bar operating pressure. While the P series generally minimizes heat losses thanks to special insulation kits, the heat exchanger is protected with a Y-strainer.
In a basic system design, the primary circuit heat source may be a hot water boiler, for example, while the secondary circuit may be melted snow water or refrigerants. Instant hot water in plumbing can be obtained with the use of appropriate controls. Due to the low internal volume of the braze exchanger, hot water can be produced instantly, thus eliminating the need for hot water tanks.
Particulate contamination of brazed plate heat exchangers is difficult due to turbulent flow. Heat exchanger plates can be cleaned by backwashing with phosphoric acid or citric acid solution at a flow rate 1.5 times higher than normal flow. While brazed exchangers are replacing bulky tubular, coiled, coaxial and other less efficient heat exchangers, brazed plates allow system designers to not only think about the exterior but also make smaller sizes that push the boundaries of system design.
APV ParaBrazed plate heat exchangers do not have plate heat seals, studs, or upper and lower slides. The individual plates are permanently brazed together in a vacuum oven. Thus, compact and durable heat fluid gasket heat exchangers are produced.
In typical applications such as district heating where they are low cost and low maintenance, such exchangers are very effective.
Features / Benefits
- Because they have a large number of contact points and complex channel systems, maximum heat transfer capacities in strongly turbulent flows can be achieved with small plate sizes.
- All production stages are subject to registration and continuous quality control in accordance with ISO 9000 standards, starting from the delivery of raw materials.
- For maximum safety, each exchanger is pressure tested.
- APV ParaBrazed plate heat exchangers have a wide range of processes for gas and non-clogging liquids.
- APV ParaBrazed heat exchangers are not suitable for ammonia and seawater applications
